Crime Report—October 20, 2025

Incident 1: On Tuesday, October 7, robbers tried to gain access to a retail jewellery store in Woodbridge, near Highway 7 and Highway 400. They were denied access through the use of controlled entry. It was the second attempt made on the store; the first attempt was on August 20, 2025.
Incident 2: Five male suspects were arrested after robbing an Oshawa Centre jewellery store on Wednesday, October 8. The Durham Regional Police Service (DRPS) responded to the armed robbery at Paris Jewellers just before 11 a.m. Four suspects entered the store, smashing display cases with hammers and a pickaxe and grabbing jewellery, while the fifth waited in the getaway SUV. Police tracked the vehicle along Hwy. 401 into Ajax and used the K9 Unit to catch the robbers as they ran. All suspects are under 19 years old, with two being young offenders. The investigation is ongoing.
Incident 3: A Port Perry jewellery store was burglarized on Thursday, October 9, around 12:30 a.m. Durham police say the thieves took a sizeable amount of high-value jewellery from Goldbug International.
Incident 4: On Thursday, October 9, a young man entered a Toronto pawn shop near Dufferin Street and Finch Avenue West, pretending to be a customer. Once inside, he tried to access the “unlock” button of the controlled entry system behind the counter, to allow others entry. Staff were able to remove him from the store.
