Four masked suspects entered the store at about 3:18 p.m. on Monday, April 27, 2026, smashed display cases and stole jewellery. Per CityNews Edmonton, loss is estimated at about $250,000.

Suspects flee after failed safe theft at jewellery store

Police are investigating a burglary at a retail jewellery store in a commercial strip plaza in Pickering, Ont., late Sunday, May 3. An unknown number of suspects entered through the rear door at about 10:50 p.m. and may have tried to remove the store’s safe but appeared to have abandoned the effort when they were unable to move it.

Investigators found no signs that the safe had been forced open, and no jewellery was reported stolen. Minor damage to equipment was reported. The store’s alarm was triggered, and police arrived shortly afterward.

Multiple jewellery businesses targeted in GTA crime wave

• A robbery at a retail jewellery store inside an enclosed mall was reported on Friday, May 1, 2026, at approximately 3:10 p.m. Four suspects allegedly entered a store at Milton Mall, smashed display cases, and fled with jewellery. No additional details are available.
• A robbery involving a large quantity of jewellery occurred around 5 a.m. on Sunday, May 10, 2026, in the downtown core. It is not yet confirmed whether the incident involved a member of the jewellery trade. According to CBC, four suspects stole approximately $500,000 worth of jewellery. No further information has been released.
• An incident involving a jewellery business near Vaughan Mills shopping centre was reported on Wednesday, May 13, 2026, at approximately 1:30 p.m. An employee attempting to leave the store by car was blocked by two individuals. The suspects left the scene when another employee approached. While no crime was completed, the interaction may have been a preliminary attempt to target the business.
• A break-in at a retail jewellery store near Albion Road and Islington Avenue occurred at approximately 12:25 a.m. on Thursday, May 14, 2026. The suspects appear to have attempted to remove safes, a tactic consistent with recent incidents; however, the safes were secured and could not be moved. The attempt was abandoned after a few minutes. No jewellery was stolen, though minor damage to glass and equipment was reported.
