New education day brings manufacturing fundamentals to TJS 2027

The Jewelry Symposium (TJS) is adding a new education day to its 2027 event, with six seminars focused on the fundamentals of jewellery manufacturing.
The Jewelry Manufacturing Fundamentals program will take place on May 15, 2027, at the Marriott Detroit in Troy, Michigan, one day before the symposium’s main presentations begin. The sessions are being co-sponsored by Ransom & Randolph and Stuller and will be taught by professionals attending the symposium.
The program is designed for newcomers to jewellery manufacturing, including students, apprentices, and young jewellery artisans. Seats will be limited, and registration will be offered at a reduced price to encourage participation from those entering the industry.
Topics will cover materials used in manufacturing, including metals, stones, and solder, as well as design, casting, finishing, setting, and plating. Together, the six seminars are intended to provide an overview of the manufacturing process and how the different stages connect.
“Part of The Jewelry Symposium’s mission is to encourage the development and advancement of all facets of the jewellery-making community, and an important part of that mission is helping bring new talent into our industry,” says Linus Drogs, TJS board chairman.
The program will also be open to experienced professionals interested in cross-training and learning more about manufacturing disciplines that overlap with their own work.
Registration includes all six seminars and lunch. The day will conclude with a question-and-answer session featuring the presenters, TJS board members, and other industry professionals.

Attendees can also purchase tickets for the TJS Welcome Dinner on Saturday evening.
