And the winner is…

We’re only partway through 2008, but Europe has already spoken when it comes to the ‘Watch of the Year.’
According to readers of the German-language newspaper, Welt am Sonntag, and the magazine, ArmbandUhren, Jaeger-LeCoultre’s ‘Duomètre à Chronographe’ is tops in the men’s category, while the International Watch Company’s (IWC’s) ‘Da Vinci Automatic’ ranked number one in ladies’ timepieces.
The winners were announced and honoured at a gala event at BaselWorld earlier this month.
The other top vote getters for men were:
 • A. Lange & Söhne’s Lange 31;
 • Rolex’s Oyster Perpetual Milgauss;
 • Glasshütte Original’s Senator Rattrapante;
 • Nomo’s Tangomat Datum;
 • Patek Philippe’s Nautilus Chronograph;
 • Chronoswiss’s Imperator;
 • Omega’s De Ville Hour Vision;
 • Girard-Perregaux’s Vintage 1945 Jackpot; and
 • Longines’ Hydro Conquest.
In the ladies category, the most popular picks were:
 • Chronoswiss’s Imperia;
 • Cartier’s Ballou Bleu;
 • Bulgari’s Assioma D; and
 • Baume & Mercier’s Classic Manchette.
