The Canadian Gemmological Association (CGA) announced the winners of the 2025 Canadian Emerging Artist Design Competition.

First place went to Farah Kathrada for her ring design, “Glitch”.

“This marks the seventh (7) year of celebrating this prestigious award, and the calibre of submissions continues to impress,” said Donna Hawrelko, CGA president.

Jewellery students and recent graduates across Canada were invited to submit their designs to win cash prizes and gain exposure to leading Canadian jewellery businesses.

The nationwide competition is open to all students enrolled in a Canadian post-secondary jewellery design or metalsmithing program.

“Each winning design demonstrates a fresh perspective, an awareness of emerging trends, and a fearless approach to redefining jewellery artistry,” continued Hawrelko.

The second and third place prizes were awarded to Xiaoduo (Jessica) Li for her necklace, “Boundless,” and Michael Starino for his ring, “San Carlo.” An Honourable Mention was given to Kai Shen for his design, “xxixx” Glasses.
