Applications are now open for scholarships to attend the 2026 Jewelry Symposium (TJS), an international event focused on advancing jewellery manufacturing technology.

The symposium will run from May 16 to 19 at the Detroit Marriott Troy. Scholarships, funded by sponsors such as GIA, Mano Acero Jewelry, Techform, and Eddie Bell, the former head of the Santa Fe Symposium, will cover registration and three nights at the hotel. Attendees will be responsible for their own travel.

The deadline to apply is Jan. 5, 2026, with awardees notified in February. Eligible applicants include students, interns, apprentices and early-career professionals in any jewellery-related field.

“The attrition of skilled labour in the fine jewellery industry makes an event like TJS more relevant and more necessary than ever,” said Linus Drogs, chair of the TJS board.

Now in its fourth year, TJS has seen steady growth in attendance. The event will open with a networking dinner on May 16, followed by three days of presentations from international experts on topics such as design software, additive manufacturing, generative AI, metallurgy, casting, gemstones, sustainability, and safety. Sessions will also cover recruitment and talent development within the industry.
