The Jewelry Symposium has selected six emerging jewellery makers to receive scholarships for its 2026 conference, the organization announced in March.

The international event focuses on advancing jewellery manufacturing technology. Scholarships are sponsored by GIA, Mano Acero Jewelry, Techform Casting, and the Dougherty Charitable Fund.

This year’s recipients include four students, one apprentice, and an emerging jeweller recently promoted from an apprenticeship. TJS board chair Linus Drogs said the organization was encouraged by the strong level of interest and emphasized the industry’s need for skilled workers.

The awardees are: William Lew of Skidmore College’s jewellery & metals program; Camille Richard, apprentice to master jeweller Ronda Coryell; Aaron Taylor, shop lead and jeweller at Skeie’s Jewelers; North Bennet Street School students Kylie Weinzierl and Ron White; and Amelia Zavagnin, a student at GIA in Canada.

Recipients said the scholarships offer meaningful opportunities to build skills, learn from industry leaders, and expand professional networks.

The scholarships cover symposium registration, three nights at the Detroit Marriott Troy from May 17 to 19, catered meals, a book, a thumb drive with presentations, and a certificate of attendance.
