Twenty-five years ago, Shelly Purdy opened her boutique jewellery studio in the heart of Toronto’s fashion district. Today, she is a successful jewellery designer, creating locally made, ethically sourced engagement rings and wedding bands.
“I’m making 25-year anniversary bands for couples whose wedding and engagement rings I designed when I first started my business,” says Purdy. “In an industry like this, establishing trust and maintaining it over 25 years is pretty special. I’m lucky to have such loyal clients.”
Purdy’s work is internationally recognized, but features a uniquely Canadian approach and style. She is a prominent supporter of Canadian diamonds and is the exclusive designer for Maple Leaf Diamonds. Her 2015 “Seasons” collection for Maple Leaf celebrated Canadian seasons and was sold across North America and in the United Kingdom.
“Creating rings that people wear their entire lives to celebrate their most precious relationship is the best part of what I do,” says Purdy.
