Christie’s achieved record-breaking success last week with its Maharajas & Mughal Magnificence sale, establishing the highest total for any auction of Indian art and Mughal objects and the second-highest auction total for a private jewellery collection.
While more than 300 diamond, gemstone, and pearl pieces will hit the auction block at Christie’s Magnificent Jewels sale in Geneva next month, the auction house says one piece in particular is on track to stand out.
Christie’s jewellery department has worked closely with ACC Art Books to publish Christie’s: The Jewellery Archives Revealed, in recognition of the auction house’s 250-year history. The book was written by Vincent Meylan, a specialist in precious stones and high jewellery. Meylan has authored several biographies as well as a number of books on precious stones.
