In a move underscoring the growing demand for luxury goods in the region, Christie’s has appointed Sophie Stevens as Head of Jewellery for the Middle East. In 2025, the auction house celebrates 20 years in the United Arab Emirates, marking a major milestone since opening its Dubai office in 2005 and holding its first auction in 2006. Exhibitions, events, international artwork tours, and sales are scheduled throughout the year, reflecting the expanding team and growing regional presence.

Stevens will be based in Dubai and will play a key role in expanding Christie’s footprint across the region. Her responsibilities will include working closely with the auction house’s international luxury teams and engaging with both new and established clients who are showing increasing interest in vintage and contemporary jewellery and gemstones.

“To be joining Christie’s in their 20th anniversary year in the UAE in a newly created role is a testament to the growing interest and demand in the secondary market in this region for exquisite and extraordinary jewels and gems. I am honoured to be appointed to work with such a dynamic team of international specialists in the luxury market and I am looking forward to working closely with Meagan Kelly Horsman, Managing Director, Christie’s Middle East.”

With more than 15 years of experience in the jewellery sector, Stevens brings significant industry knowledge to the role. Prior to joining Christie’s, she served as Vice President and Jewellery Specialist at Sotheby’s Middle East, a position she held for eight years.

Christie’s says the appointment reflects its ongoing commitment to the region’s evolving luxury market and its focus on strengthening both auction and private sales.
